IT ALL STARTED IN 2017,

in my parents’ garage. I came across some YouTube videos showing how to make a knife, and I decided to give it a try between my university classes, aiming to make myself a good kitchen knife.

After several attempts and learning along the way, I managed to make a few knives and even sold them. I realized there was potential to turn it into a business, so I took a break from my studies and slowly started equipping myself.

I quickly learned that a knife maker’s main tool is a 2" x 72" belt sander, but I couldn’t afford to buy one so early in my project. However, I found many DIY belt sander plans and decided to make one myself.

I found a broken old treadmill for sale, from which I took the motor, and built the rest using steel scraps and longboard wheels. Aesthetic wasn’t the priority, but it worked perfectly for my needs.

I found a space where I had more room and freedom, and that’s when things really took off.

I officially launched Couteaux CLK

with the goal of making creative, unique, but above all, high-performing knives.

Using them, I realized how much a good knife can change the cooking experience, and I immediately wanted to share this passion.

I started reaching out to chefs in Montreal’s culinary scene and was fortunate to work with people who truly understand knives and could appreciate the quality of my work.

Their support gave me the visibility I needed to make my knives known.

Orders started coming in, and quickly I found myself needing to increase my production capacity. That’s when I began planning to machine my own blades. I equipped myself with a CNC mill, designed my models in 3D, and started producing stainless steel blades that are durable, with a concave grind for even better performance and more affordability compared to handmade knives.

We now offer several high-performance machined knife models in our Classic Series, featuring a variety of creative handles at very competitive prices, sold worldwide!

And this is just the beginning!
